Your workout stats, after every class, in the Sora app.

Connect your watch once and the Sora app shows your average heart rate and active calories for every class you finish. Here is how to set it up.

You already feel the work in a heated Recenter or an Activate class. Now you can see it too. If you wear a fitness watch or tracker to class, the Sora app can show your average heart rate and the active calories you burned, right next to the class you just finished. It takes a minute to set up, and it all stays on your phone.

What you will see

For each class you complete, the Sora app shows two numbers: your average heart rate in beats per minute, and your active calories burned. Both cover the scheduled class time, so a 50-minute class shows the 50 minutes you spent on the mat.

You will find them in three places: on the class itself under your reservation details, in your reservation history as you look back over past classes, and on your Stats page, where your classes add up over time.

How to connect your watch

In the Sora app, go to Settings, then Health Settings, and tap Connect. Turn on the metrics you would like to see and tap Allow. Your phone will then open Apple Health on iPhone, or Health Connect on Android, so you can give the app permission to read those numbers.

That is the only setup. From then on, wear your watch or tracker to class as you normally would, and make sure your phone’s health app is syncing with it.

Make sure your classes count

Your stats appear for classes you were checked in to, so check in when you arrive at the studio. Wear your device for the whole class, and keep the Sora app up to date from the App Store or Google Play so you have the latest version.

If a class is missing its numbers, the usual reasons are a watch that was not worn or not synced, a class you were not checked in to, or health permissions that were switched off. Open Settings, then Health Settings, in the app to check the connection.

Your data stays on your phone

The Sora app reads your health data directly on your device to show you your numbers. Your heart rate and calorie data are not sent to the studio, so they are yours alone to look at, compare, or ignore.

Reading your numbers in the heat

Warmth can raise your heart rate, so a Hot class may read differently from a Mild one, even when the class felt similar. Compare classes of the same type and heat over a few weeks rather than reading too much into a single day.

Treat your stats as a fun way to follow your practice, not a target to chase. How you feel on the mat matters more than any number, and you should always pace yourself and rest whenever you need to. Not using the app yet? Download Sora Studio from the App Store or Google Play, then book your next class at sorastudio.ca/book.
