How often should you do Pilates? A realistic guide.

Once a week, twice, or most days? How to find a Pilates rhythm that fits your life, how recovery fits in, and how it maps onto Sora's memberships.

There is no single right number of Pilates classes a week. The best rhythm is the one you can keep: often enough that each class builds on the last, with enough rest that you arrive feeling ready rather than run down. Here is how to find yours, and how it looks at Sora.

Once a week: a steady start

One class a week is a lovely place to begin, and a realistic one for busy weeks. It gives you a regular hour for yourself, time to learn the foundations, and a chance to see how your body responds to the warmth of our infrared-heated room.

If you are new, start with Observe for Pilates foundations or Stretch for slower, breath-led movement, and consider a Mild class (up to 35°C) while you settle in. Our Rise membership is built around this rhythm, with 4 classes a month.

Twice a week: where progress shows

Two classes a week is where many people start to notice a difference in how they move, because you are coming back before the last class has faded. It is also easy to balance: one stronger class and one gentler one.

A good pairing is Recenter or Activate early in the week and Stretch or Observe later on. The Elevate membership covers this rhythm with 8 classes a month.

Three or more: a full practice

Three classes a week suits people who want Pilates and yoga to be a main part of their routine. The key is variety: mix intensity, mix heat, and keep at least one gentler or slower class in the week.

Flight gives you 12 classes a month for this rhythm, and Infinite takes the limit away altogether for those who like to come in most days.

Rest is part of the practice

Pilates is low impact, but your muscles still need time to recover, especially in a heated room. If you are sore, tired, or feeling the heat more than usual, choose Stretch, pick a Mild class, or take the day off. You will come back stronger for it.

Hydrate well before and after class, and listen to your body over any schedule. If you have a health condition, are pregnant, or are recovering from an injury, check with your doctor first and let your instructor know before class.

Make it a habit

Consistency beats intensity. Pick the same days and times each week so your classes become part of the week rather than something you fit in. Members can book further ahead (Rise 14 days, Elevate 21, Flight and Infinite 30), which makes it easier to keep your favourite times.
